Choose your pace

Things to do in summer

Plan a guided mountain ascent or take a lakeside dip. Bike or hike the trails, or wake to the gentle chiming of cow bells and visit them in flower-covered pastures. Riffelalp Resort 2'222m opens up the mountains in every direction. The path ahead is yours to choose.

Ready-made adventures

Mountain expeditions

In summer, our certified mountain guide will take you on a day trip to suit your abilities. Challenge yourself with an intrepid, intermediate difficulty trek to the summit of the Breithorn (4164m). Alternatively, set out on a gentler trail to the Hörnli Hut if you’re a beginner. Guided expeditions take place two days a week, though this is dependent on the weather.

Ride on out

Mountain biking

We're lucky to have trails for every style of rider, whether you want to race through pine forests, churn up dirt on a rocky trail or boost your pedal power on an e-bike. You won’t be able to bring a bike on the Gornergrat railway, but you can either leave your bike in Zermatt with our porter or ride it up to Riffelalp. In Zermatt, you’ll also find bike hire and the starting point of many trails out of the village.

Swing high

Golf

Between Täsch and Randa the Matterhorn Golf Club offers a nine-hole course with views of the Breithorn. If you’d prefer to extend your round, each hole can be played from a different tee for a varied 18-hole experience. It’s easy to reach via the Gornergrat railway followed by a short taxi ride, and we’d be delighted to reserve your tee time and arrange club transfer – leaving you free to focus on your game.

Inner calm, outside

Outdoor wellness

Bathe in the still, pure waters of one of the many peaceful mountain lakes near Zermatt and connect with nature. On the Five Lakes Walk you'll see Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee. There are barbecue areas for a scenic picnic, and there are two lakes where you can dive right in if you’re feeling bold – the water’s certainly refreshing!

High-flying fun

Take to the skies

Yearning to go even higher than 2222m? If you have a head for heights, you can get up to all sorts of adventures in the skies. Make your dreams of flying a reality with a tandem paragliding experience. Take the kids to the nearby Forest Fun park to test your balance on a treetop course or book a sightseeing flight on an Air Zermatt helicopter and marvel at the drama of glaciers, boulders and ravines below.
